I am a microbial ecologist with primary interest in the evolutionary dynamics of microbial populations and communities in their natural environment, in particular in aquatic ecosystems. My research combines experimental, observational and field approaches, with a strong bioinformatics component to understand the interplay between bacterial ecology and evolution.
